Long have naturalists debated as to the origins of scorpions. Some claim that they were once dwellers of the sea, citing similarities in anatomy to crabs and yabbies. Others take the opposite approach, insisting that these similarities suggest it was the wavekin who descended from the scorpions, the heat-resistant armor shared by all proving a common origin in flame.

A creature of living lava, this baking nightmare rose in the pool of magma hidden within the heart of Sohm Al When the dragons were no longer present, kept the scorpion in check the ancient menace resurfaced and began agitating the mountain's volcanic core with its wild thrashing.
