“"With death a warrior must dance boldly. Fearlessly. For thus does his soul burn bright."
— Sadu of the Dotharl
Amongst all the tribes of the Azim Steppe, none have the reputation of a violent, warlike tribe like the Dotharl. A tribe obsessed with death and the macabre, they hold great importance in the afterlife, but because of the way they live for battle, their numbers never climb too high.
History
One of the only tribes to contend with the Oronir, their ferocity and martial prowess is second to none. They have a belief that if their soul burns bright and they die on the battlefield, they will be reborn anew. This led to an insatiable bloodlust and a lack of fear of death.
Because they seek a glorious end in battle, they often do not live to old age, and with their recent defeats in the Nadaam, their numbers have dwindled.
The Dotharl believe that when a warrior falls, they will be reborn within a year of their death. So when a child is born, the leader of the tribe will look into their eyes to ascertain the identity of the soul so they may return their name. When birthrates are low, some say a Dotharli soul may be reborn in the body of another Xaela tribe.

Mauci: Once known as "Mauci of the Seven and Seven Swords" in a previous life, he struggled to master the blade as he once had before to the point that he doubted he really was the reincarnation of Mauci. With the support of his friends and tribesmen, he learned that he was far more suited to fighting with his fists. Declaring this to his people, he found that they openly accepted him, as the previous incarnations of Mauci had been known to have mastery over various weapons and fighting styles.

Being reborn as a man, this is not out of the ordinary, as their belief says that men can be reborn as women (like Sadu, who in previous lives was a man) and vice versa. Lore
One would do well to give this tribe a wide berth, for their reputation as a violent, warlike people is well deserved. At present, they claim the northern edge of Nhaama’s Retreat as their domain, and reside near an oasis from which they venture out to hunt and to graze their herds.
History
The Dotharl are perhaps the only tribe that can currently contend with the Oronir, for their ferocity and martial prowess are second to none. Their bloodlust is born of a belief that the soul of one who dies valiantly in battle burns bright, thus ensuring their eventual rebirth. As such, they do not fear death, but rather seek out opportunities for a glorious end. Unsurprisingly, their warriors tend not to live to old age, and in recent years their diminished population has suffered repeated defeats at the hands of the Oronir in the Naadam.
A fallen warrior is believed to be reincarnated within a year of their death, and so after a child is born, the tribe’s leader looks into their eyes to ascertain the soul’s identity, that they might return to them their name. During periods when newborns are few in number, however, some say that a Dotharli soul may come to reside in the body of another Xaela tribesman. [1]
