Journal
- Gildon is racking his brain over the gnawed bone.
- Gildon conceds that he has had no luck in deciphering the markings on the gnawed bone. He asks that you invite others around camp to inspect the bone and its markings, hoping a new perspective may offer a hint as to their meaning. Show the gnawed bone to knights around Camp Cloudtop and see what information you can gather.
- You have shown the gnawed bone to knights around Camp Cloudtop, but no one was able to make sense of its markings. When speaking to Fabrellet, however, you did receive a bit of unrelated good news: a shipment of provisions is scheduled to arrive soon. Return the gnawed bone to Gildon and relay to him what you have learned.
- You speak with Gildon of what little information you obtained, along with Fabrellet's news of an upcoming shipment. Never one to deny hi sbelly, Gildon finds himself easily distracted by the news. This in turn leads him to a startling realization: the gnawed bone was used to count days until the next provision shipment, which includes a substantial number of crystals. As he leaves in search of Lady Laniaitte, Gildon asks that you alert Fabrellet of a potential Vanu attack.
- You talk with Fabrellet of Gildon's recent epiphany, but he is incredulous that the Vanu could follow through with such a plan. Despite his disbelief, however, Fabrellet asks you to check on the men unloading provisions aboard the airship. Head to the Protector and see that the provisions are safe and secure.
- You board the Protector to find an injured knight at the feet of a Vanu preparing to make off with the camp's provisions. You make quick work of the would-be raider, but he may have tampered with the crates before you arrived. Examine the crates and make sure nothing is amiss..
- You examine the crate and are relieved to find them undamaged. Report to Fabrellet and assure him the provisions are safe.
- You return to Fabrellet, who is pleased to hear you routed the Vanu. Laniaitte soon arrives with Gildon in tow, and she also thanks you for once again ensuring the safety of Camp Cloudtop. Not wanting to overlook the efforts of her own men, she recognizes Gildon for his diligence which led to uncovering the Vanu's plans. She then offers him a position at another outpost to reward his efforts. Gildon humbly refuses the proposition, stating that all he has ever desired is to restore the spirit of his fellow knights. In lieu of a promotion, Gildon asks they use a portion of the provisions for a meal to celebrate successfully foiling the Vanu's plans. Laniaitte consents to his request, expecting redoubled efforts from Gildon in his future duties.
