Fran is the general of Lente's Tears, a special forces group hailing from Rabanastre. Though she doesn't speak about her past, she is a brilliant tactician and warrior, and a remarkable leader. She is also believed to be a member of the Dalmascan peace keeping force known as the Saraab, that was charged with defending the Dalmascan Royal Family.

Fran and the Saraab were kept separate from the rest of the peacekeepers of the city, acting as protectors of order behind the scenes. She and the others had complete authority to do what they needed to ensure the safety of the city, even if it involved the nobility or members of the royal family. Because of this, only members of the Saraab knew who the other members were.

When the Garlean Empire invaded Dalmasca and began to lose, the people fought blindly for the royal family, throwing themselves into the Imperial forces to no avail. The casualties continued to mount and the Empire grew closer to victory every day. Knowing that if the royal line remained, the people would still fight for them, and as it stood the Dalmascans had no chance of winning. So Prince Rasler commanded the Saraab to carry out an "assassination" on Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca, having it seem like she had died but would be taken to safety where she could someday lead the people in a revolution against the Garleans. Fran was charged with carrying out this mission in the utmost secrecy, ensuring that the correct people saw the princess' "death" and would spread the news of this across the kingdom.

A method of eternal sleep was devised to preserve her body, and it, as well as the method required to wake her up, are only known to Fran and her kind. Fran was unable to tell the truth to even the Fusiliers like Ba'Gamnan, who grieved the princess' passing and felt he was to blame for it. She harbored immense guilt over this, and due to the events of the expedition into ancient Ivalice and Ba'Gamnan being turned into a horrific monster, she never got the chance to make amends.

When Dalmasca had rebelled against the Empire, Fran met with the Warrior of Light, offering to take them to the Orbonne Monastery in exchange for ridiculous demands of soldiers and a fortune to strengthen the resistance. The Warrior of Light promises that they can only try, and leaves to speak to Hancock and the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. When she later learns that they had in good faith attempted to meet her demands, Fran joined them and offered her help, admitting that she knew her demands were outlandish. She reveals the location of the Monastery, and witnesses Alma becoming enthralled by Ultima, The High Seraph, who pulled her through a portal.

As the party approaches the Golmore Jungle, Alma appears and begs Ramza for help, only for him to be pulled into a rift himself and Alma to pass out. Returning to the Prima Vista, Fran admits that she had originally only joined to steal a piece of Auracite and lay waste to the Empire, but now that she had learned of the threat Ultima posed to the world, she wanted to help. She swore to lead the party through the Jungle and into the ruins of the Monastery proper, as long as the Warrior of Light let her help.

She leads the group to the back of the ruins, where they encounter and defeat Ultima and rescue Ramza. After returning him back to the Prima Vista, Fran returned back to Dalmasca with Bwagi. Some time later, She aids the Bozjan Resistance in Zadnor, saving the life of Mikoto and participating in the raid against the Dalriada. Following the defeat of the Empire, she joins in the celebrations at Gangos, and thanks the Warrior of Light on behalf of her people, hoping they may work together in the future.
