“"Nothing personal, yes, yes? Just business."
A shiftless Namazu whose primary interests are gambling, tea-drinking, and napping, Gyodo's claim that he is a fisherman is flimsy at best. Though he may once have earned his daily coin harvesting shellfish and seaweed, his fishing boat has long since been siezed to cover unpaid debts. His financial woes caught the attention of a an agent employed by the Garlean Consulate in Kugane, who convinced Gyodo to work as an imperial informant for a handful of coins and a potful of tea. Thus it was money--and not any political agenda--which motivated the Namazu to betray Gosetsu and the Scions to their enemies. Those that have met Gyodo would agree that a desire to earn a purse without the unpleasantness of labor may be his only reliable quality.
