— In-game description
Mourning Widow is a landmark in Moraby Bay, Lower La Noscea. It was once the site of a calm river that flowed gracefully into the Strait of Merlthor, prior to the Calamity, which sheared away the coastline to form a cliff. The area encompasses both the river and the point where it reaches the sea. It was named in reference to the waterfall that merges with the sea, which reminded locals of the tears of a widow who had lost their husband in the Calamity's destruction.
The river faces an infestation of Cieldalaes cane toads, which were introduced by local farmers in an attempt to remedy locust infestations that were destroying their crops. Due to their lack of natural predators on Vylbrand, their population continues to spiral out of control. The Yellowjackets often try to cull some of the beasts, though they sometimes require the assistance of adventurers.
