Mounts Tab from Character menu

Mounts allow players to travel around Eorzea faster. After acquiring a mount, you can ride it by dragging the icon onto your action bar. Players can acquire their first mount, Company Chocobo, by playing through the main story and joining a Grand Company at around level 20. Other mounts can be acquired by completing different requirements. Heavensward, FFXIV's first expansion introduced Flying Mounts.

• All mounts have the same movement speed increase.

• Enemies can still attack you while you are mounted. They can potentially injure your mount, slowing its movement speed significantly.

Behemoth			Received as a part of the Veteran Rewards. After 270 days (9 months) of subscription to A Realm Reborn, the player will receive this as a gift.
Black Chocobo		Yes	The Black Chocobo is obtained after completing Main Scenario Quest Divine Intervention. It is the first flying mount obtained in Heavensward.
Bomb Palanquin		Yes	Obtained from Kobold Beast Tribe Quests after obtaining Trusted (rank 4) reputation with the Kobolds.
Boreas			Dropped by Shiva in The Akh Afah Amphitheatre (Extreme)
Cavalry Elbst			Obtained from Sahagin Beast Tribe Quests after obtaining Trusted (rank 4) reputation with the Sahagins.
Ceremony Chocobo		Yes	Obtain from Gold or Platinum Eternal Bond.
Coeurl			Coeurl Mount is available to players who have purchased the Collector's Edition.
Company Chocobo		Yes	Purchase from The Immortal Flames, The Order of the Twin Adder or The Maelstrom vendor for 2000 Company Seals after joining the Grand Company.
Calvary Drake			Obtained from Amalj'aa Beast Tribe Quests. Players need to have Trusted (rank 4) reputation with the Amalj'aa.
Direwolf			Purchased from Ixali Trader in North Shroud (x24,y22) for 120,000 gil after reaching Sworn reputation level with the Ixal Daily Quests.
Draught Chocobo		Yes	Recruit a friend to A Realm Reborn through the Recruit a Friend Campaign. The player will receive the Draught Chocobo after the friend has subscribed to ARR for 90 days.
Enbarr			Dropped by Leviathan in The Whorleater (Extreme).
Fat Chocobo		Yes	Obtained from PlayStation 4 Collector's Edition Bonuses.
Fenrir			Obtained in Gold Saucer by purchasing it from the Gold Saucer Attendant for 1,000,000 MGP.
Flame Warsteed			Obtained from A Line in the Sand IV Achievement in Frontline PvP after winning 100 battles with The Immortal Flames.
Griffin		Yes	Purchasing the Collector's Edition or Digital Collector's Edition of Heavensward.

Laurel Goobbue			Obtained from Sylph Beast Tribe Quests. Players need to have Trusted (rank 4) reputation with the Sylph.
Legacy Chocobo		Yes	Legacy Chocobo is available to legacy players.
Logistics System		Yes	Achieve Behind Enemy Lines achievement by obtaining 200 Frontline wins with any Grand Company.
Magitek Armor		Yes	Acquired after completing the Main Storyline.
Manacutter		Yes	After completing the Main Scenario Quest Into the Aery.
Markab			Obtained after defeating Ramuh in The Striking Tree (Extreme)
Midgardsormr		Yes	After completing the Main Scenario Quest Fetters of Lament.
Nightmare			Summoned by Nightmare Whistle. The whistle is dropped by Garuda (Extreme), Titan (Extreme), and Ifrit (Extreme).

Unicorn			Unicorn can be acquired when you level Conjurer to 30 and complete the quest Unicorn Power.
Warbear			Complete the achievement But Somebody's Gotta Do It (Warrior) by completing 200 high-level full party duties as a warrior.
Warlion			Complete the achievement But Somebody's Gotta Do It (Paladin) by completing 200 high-level full party duties as a paladin.
Warpanther			Complete the achievement But Somebody's Gotta Do It (Dark Knight) by completing 200 high-level full party duties as a Dark Knight.
Witch's Broom		Yes	Obtained in All Saints' Wake (2015) Seasonal Event.
Wyvern		Yes	Purchased with 6 Clan Mark Logs from Bertana (x:5,y:5) in Idyllshire.

Flying Mounts

Flying mounts are introduced in Heavensward, revealed at the Fan Festival in London 2014. Flying Mounts allow the players to take to the sky and roam the areas of Heavensward freely. Many of the previously ground mounts, such as Company Chocobo, will be able to fly. To do this, you will need to complete the quest I Believe I Can Fly, located near the chocobo stables in Ishgard. Players can only fly in locations in Heavensward such as Ishgard and Coerthas Western Highlands. While flying, the flying mounts have 200% of the speed of a regular ground mount. While running on ground, the flying mounts will be the same speed as a ground mounts (100%).

• You can escape enemies on the ground by flying.

Unlock

Players can unlock flying mounts through the Main Scenario Quest Divine Intervention. Before flying in a zone, players need to attune with the Aether Currents in that zone. Players can check their attunement progress through the Aether Currents window under Travel in the main menu. Some Aether Currents are found in the zone while others are obtained by completing quests. Players are provided with an Aether Compass to aid them in their search.

• If you lose your Compass you can talk to Gibrillont at the Forgotten Knight to get a new one.

Controls

After attuning to a zone, press the jump key while riding a flying mount to fly.
