“If Ondo testimony is to be believed, this vast city simply appeared overnight. Unlike the ancient remnants which endure silently upon the sea floor, its illuminated towers are of a decidedly different nature—a miraculously new and vibrant metropolis, compelling in its mystery.
— Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume III, p. 119
Amaurot is an area in The Tempest, Norvrandt. It is a recreation of the star's capital city that existed prior to the Sundering, conjured by Emet-Selch.
Landmarks
The Macarenses Angle
A simple aetheryte plaza, the name of which essentially translates as "the land of happiness.” In the days of old, Amaurotines would meet visiting or returning colleagues here, and it was common to see groups lingering in the square, engaged in lively debates.
Achora Heights
The lift inside this structure carries passengers between its top floor and the ground below. The party of the Warrior of Darkness used this mechanism to enter Amaurot when they first came upon Emet-Selch's phantom creation.
Bureau of the Architect
This bureau was responsible for the registration and archiving of concepts, the specific instructions needed to manifest a certain object or entity using creation magicks. Registered concepts could also be borrowed by others upon submission of a successful application.
The Hall of Rhetoric
The ancients used this hall for formal debates and discussion, their practically immortal lifespans allowing endless hours to enjoy the exploration of ideas and dissenting opinions. Especially insightful rhetoric was recorded and stored in the building's archives.
The Polyleritae District
Here in Amaurot's central district were found the institutions vital to the management of the unsundered star. The ancients employed by these offices were all said to be exceptional practitioners of creation magicks.
Bureau of the Administrator
Records for every resident of the star were kept in this institution. Its clerks were also responsible for authorizing visitors to the city's august Capitol.
Bureau of the Secretariat
All manner of official documentation and applications were managed by this office, including the issuance of visitor's writs. It seems that even a grand civilization capable of godlike creation sorceries was unable to free itself from the nightmare of labyrinthine bureaucracy.
The Capitol
This stately building was the meeting place of the Convocation of Fourteen, the ultimate authority whose policies dictated the fate of the star. The debate over how the ancients would overcome the Final Days was held within these very walls.
Akadaemia Anyder
In a quiet corner of Amaurot stands an unremarkable entrance to a most remarkable institution─the Akadaemia Anyder. Within its hallowed halls, the star's ancient overseers toil to perfect the godlike art of creation magicks, their research and experiments bringing into existence myriad forms of fantastical life. Yet even if these creations be naught but reflections of reality─mere phantasms woven from aether─the techniques which engender such miracles are a source of undeniable power. Step now across the threshold, and behold the glories of a civilization lost to the ages.
Amaurot
To the depths of the Tempest, to the ocean floor itself, you have come to rescue the Crystal Exarch from the phantom city of Amaurot. But barring your way is the architect of this aetherial construct─Emet-Selch, the Ascian who would lead the First unto destruction. The Light within you strains at its corporeal confines, threatening to break free at any moment. Time does not favor the Warrior of Darkness. You must brave the final days of Amaurot, and confront Emet-Selch in the very midst of this recreated calamity.

Trivia
