Little is known about the Xth Legion, other than they were one of the few Legions of the Garlean Empire military to escape both the civil war and the Tempering of Garlemald. Following this, they attempted to organize an effort to reclaim the city with the IVth Imperial Legion, Vth Legion, VIIIth Legion and the remnants of the XIIth Imperial Legion. However, before they had a chance to attack, a majority of the remaining soldiers deserted, and they had difficulties communicating with the other legions. With no ability to carry on and complete their mission, the Xth Legion turned to the Grand Company of Eorzea, pleading with them to help take back their home. They gave them a secret command that they knew would help them communicate with the Ist Legion, the last Imperial holdout in Garlemald: "Have the iyl stand down".
