Hearken unto a requiem for a hero fallen. A man who lived a thousand thousand of our lives clinging desperately to faint hope, never shirking his sworn duty to his long-lost brethren. The Minstrel's Ballad: Hades's Elegy is a level 80 trial introduced in patch 5.1 with Shadowbringers.

Unlock

Players must have completed the quests Shadowbringers and Minstrel from Another Mother, then the trial will be available from the Minstreling Wanderer in the Crystarium.

Guide

Phase 1

• Ancient Double: Hades will always cast this at the start of the battle. This allows him to double cast ALL of his abilities throughout the battle.
• Shadowspread: Follows not long after casting Ancient Double. AOE cones will spread from Hades targeting each player. Players should spread out in each cardinal direction away from Hades to avoid being hit by two cones. A short moment after, a second cone will attack the position each player was previously standing in and can be side-stepped early.
• Bad Faith: Follows Shadowspread. Two purple walls with spikes pointing out from one side will form to either side of Hades, then blast the side of the arena with the spikes. Stand by a wall that has spikes pointing away from you. A short moment after, a second volley of spikes will fire in the opposite direction. This second volley can be avoided by moving to where the spikes were previously pointed towards the player.
• Arcane Utterance: Follows Bad Faith. There are two different versions of the attack, one where red orbs are scattered across the field and another where mirrors appear across the field. The former is avoided by simply moving to the single spot where there is no orb. The latter is avoided by going to the opposite end of the field where the middle mirror is facing, opposite where the empty space is. Both spells are activated by Arcane Control.
• Broken Faith: Meteor-like discs will fall around the room in a random order, exploding in a radius slightly larger than the actual disc. Standing within the explosion radius will deal damage and apply stacks of Vulnerability. One strategy is remaining in the center for the first disc while under the effects of shield abilities or abilities like Asylum to keep DPS from dropping for too long.
• Ravenous Assault: Tankbuster. Targets a single tank twice, can be shirked or provoked between castings.

These mechanics will continue throughout however, players must bring Hades below 10% quickly or Hades will dub the party "unworthy" and wipe the group.
