Mounts
Mounts allow players to travel around Eorzea faster. After acquiring a mount, you can ride it by dragging the icon onto your action bar. Players can acquire their first mount, Company Chocobo, by playing through the main story and joining a Grand Company at around level 20. Other mounts can be acquired by completing different requirements.
- All mounts have the same movement speed increase.
- Enemies can still attack you while you are mounted. They can potentially injure your mount, slowing its movement speed significantly.

Lore
No adventurer should set out into the wilds without a trusty mount. In addition to the ever-popular chocobo, Eorzea is home to a number of other peculiar creatures which may serve as trusty steeds.
Ahriman
"Though little is known of the void and the creatures which call the extra-dimensional realm home, scholars have discovered that there is a strict hierarchy amongst voidsent consisting of twelve distinct tiers. Ahrimans are believed to fall into the fifth, making them formidable foes... when not enthralled by curses."
Chocobo
These flightless birds have sturdy legs with which to swiftly bear you across great distances.
Coeurl
Known for the whip-like appendages framing their fang-lined faces, these beasts have been tamed for those who prefer more truculent transportation. "Native to the jungles of the Near East, coeurls were only recently introduced to Eorzea, brought over from faraway lands such as Thavnair by Ul'Dahn nobles who thought to breed them as pets. Now, but a handful of skilled tamers living in recluse on the Pearl are said to be able to train them."
Fat Chocobo
"Playfully described by some as 'large and in charge,' in truth, when summoned, this gluttonous gourmand will flap nary a feather unless a garland of gysahl greens is dangled before him - in which case not even the laws of nature can slow the fat chocobo down."
Unicorn
This rare creature is rumored to dwell far north in the outer reaches of Coerthas.[1] "Not long ago, Eorzean unicorns numbered in the thousands, and could oft be seen roaming the Coerthas highlands in great majestic herds that would render the mountains white as snow. Poaching has caused the population to decline, and if it were not for your act of kindness, there would be one fewer."
