'''Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepfsyn''' was a [[Roegadyn]] [[Astrologian]] [[Archon]] in the [[Fifth Astral Era]]. '''Nyunkrepf''' was one of the people who saw the coming [[Sixth Umbral Calamity]] and worked alongside the people to try to forestall it.

At the end of the [[War of the Magi]], the people had begun to notice the land changing and decaying. Having used so much [[Aether]] to fuel their war, the land was beginning to die, and the balance of the elements was thrown off considerably, drifting more and more towards water with each passing day. Reading the stars, '''Nyunkrepf''' was able to see the coming destruction of [[Eorzea]] by means of the '''Calamity of Water''', as did the people of '''Eorzea'''. The seers and oracles only further confirmed this, seeing only darkness and destruction in the future. Setting aside their feuds for the time being, each nation began to work together to forestall the rising tides. the people of [[Amdapor]] began evacuation efforts, with the people of [[Mhach]] helping, while also building their '''Ark''' in secret. The people of [[Nym]], those who survived the [[Green Death]], were sent out to sea to form barriers and protective wards, in what would be called '''Operation Maelstrom'''.

'''Nyunkrepf''' also set about to do his part, and built a massive ship known as '''Nyunkrepf's Hope'''. When the waves did eventually come to swallow '''Eorzea''', his ship appeared and was responsible for saving countless lives. Even after the waves had washed the nations away, '''Nyunkrepf's Hope''' continued pulling those who had been pulled out to sea by the tides out of the water and saving them. Though things were going well, the seas were still incredibly dangerous. Storms constantly raged, churning the ocean and anything on it. The crew and '''Nyunkrepf''' saw a coming wave that could not be avoided, and would be sure to destroy the ship and kill them all.

With no option left to him, '''Nyunkrepf''' evoked a powerful spell that teleported the entire ship and crew to safety, without knowing where they would end up. As it turns out, the ship and crew were teleported to the top of [[Mount Yorn]] in [[Gyr Abania]]. The people aboard the '''Nyunkrepf's Hope''' disembarked from the ship and realized they were not the only ones who had fled to this mountain: the remainder of the people of '''Amdapor''' had also come here to escape the raging waters. Though they were initially welcomed into the settlement, rations and space soon became an issue, as the '''Amdaporians''' were already struggling to survive. Realizing they would soon all perish and tiring of the never-ending fighting, '''Nyunkrepf''' took his people away from the villages and built another boat, sailing across the oceans to an island in [[the Northern Empty]]. It was on the shore of this island that the roots of the city-state of [[Sharlayan]] would be laid. He would also ensure that the people of '''Sharlayan''' would have to voice their opinion and concerns regarding the matters of the city-state, and formed the [[Ecclesia]] to do this.


Nyunkrepf Nyunkrepfsyn's name means "Nine Claw" and "Nine Claw's son," respectively, in the [[Languages/Roegadyn Dictionary|traditional Roegadyn language]].
