The Trident is a contest amongst the pirate powers that was created by Admiral Agatzahr Roehmerlsyn to determine who will be named the next Admiral. This contest is used to peacefully determine the next ruler as opposed to waiting for the current ruler to die or be murdered. This allows a new ruler to come every seven years, and has brought many great leaders to Limsa Lominsa and allowed for tremendous growth of the nation.
