The purpose of this page, and all of the gear guides, is to assist freshly leveled players in knowing which gear they should be spending their currencies on.

Item Level (iLvl) of an item determines that item's quality. An item with higher iLvl will nearly always be better than an item with lower iLvl.

New players should directly purchase Augmented Ironworks Weapons and Gear, giving iLvl 130, with Allagan Tomestone of PoeticsAllagan Tomestones of Poetics. This gear is bolded in the tables below.
Poetics gear becomes available at Sundry Splendors.pngSundry Splendors in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks, New Gridania, and Ul'dah - Steps of Nald after Main Scenario QuestThe Ultimate Weapon.
Prior to this, new players should also complete their level 50 job quest to receive a coffer containing iLvl 90 armor.

Alternatively, ABasic-rarity crafted gear made with Heavensward materials was added as "catch-up gear." These can be bought HQ HQ icon.png off the Market Board, giving iLvl 115, with Gil Gil. This gear is italicised in the tables below.
