Summary

Combat

• Because level 90 gear is released over the course of several major patches, players do not necessarily need to slowly increment the item level of their gear if they have recently reached level 90, and can instead jump directly to the highest item level gear that is most accessible.
• [IL 560] Players who recently reached level 89 - 90 should collect Artifact Weapons and Artifact Armor for free. The Last Accessories drop from three dungeons:  The Dead Ends,  Smileton, and  The Stigma Dreamscape, but these do not need to be "farmed" to proceed with further upgrades.
• [IL 620] Current uncapped Ctomestone gear ( Allagan Tomestone of Causality): Lunar Envoy's Weapons, Lunar Envoy's Armor, and Lunar Envoy's Accessories
• [IL 635] Current Bdungeon gear ( The Lunar Subterrane): Voidmoon Armor and Voidmoon Accessories

Best-in-slot gear

• [IL 660/665] Current weekly-capped savage raid gear ( Anabaseios (Savage)): Ascension Weapons, Ascension Armor and Ascension Accessories. Also rewards items to augment Credendum gear to item level 660.
• [IL 665] Current ERelic weapons: Mandervillous Weapons.
  • These are slightly better than Ascension Weapons because of their adjustable attributes and a higher total number of attribute points.
  • They require the completion of all Hildibrand Quests until Gentleman at Heart.
  • The first-stage Base Manderville Weapons (item level 615) require completion of all Hildibrand Quests until The Imperfect Gentleman.
• Current "best-in-slot" (BiS) gear comprises a mixture of Mandervillous Weapons and Ascension/Augmented Credendum Armor and Accessories melded with certain materia.
  • This composition varies depending on the job and is intended to maximize desirable substats. Some jobs may have multiple BiS sets with specific Spell Speed or Skill Speed tiers.
  • BiS sets for each job are provided by The Balance.
  • BiS is not necessary to obtain unless if the player is planning on doing  Another Mount Rokkon (Savage) or  Another Aloalo Island (Savage). BiS primarily allows players to more easily clear existing content.
  • The level 90 ultimate raids,  Dragonsong's Reprise (Ultimate) and  The Omega Protocol (Ultimate) have specific BiS sets for each job that matches their item level sync (605 and 635, respectively). See the above link to the Balance. The criterion dungeons  Another Sil'dihn Subterrane and  Another Sil'dihn Subterrane (Savage) have the same item level sync and BiS sets as the Omega Protocol.
• [IL 665] Augmented Credendum Weapons can be upgraded to Exquisite Weapons using drops from  Another Aloalo Island (Savage). These are identical stat-wise to Ascension Weapons. It is not possible to directly upgrade Credendum Weapons to Exquisite Weapons.
• Higher item level gear will not be released until the launch of Dawntrail (7.0).

Crafting and Gathering

• Players who recently reached level 90 can buy high quality Indagator's Tools and Indagator's Gear (item level 620) from the Market Board and meld with materia. With the exception of the primary tools, this will be the best Crafter and Gatherer gear until the launch of Dawntrail (7.0).
  • Melding guides and crafting rotations are provided by Teamcraft Guides.
• Alternatively, they can farm Purple Scrips (achievable using Lv 80 gear) to buy Afflatus Tools and Afflatus Gear. Using some HQ materials, basic melds,   Calamari Ripieni and   Commanding Craftsman's Draught, this gear can be used to craft high quality Indagator's equipment. This bypasses needing to first invest in melded Pactmaker's Tools and Gear.
  • Note that Afflatus gear, like other Scrip gear, is inferior to high quality Indagator's gear due to being unable to perform   Advanced Materia Melding.
  • Pentamelded Indagator's is not necessary to obtain unless if the player is planning on doing Expert Recipes (specifically those for special Island Sanctuary landmarks). Afflatus gear is sufficient to create Diadochos combat gear.
• Current ERelic tools: Splendorous Tools seventh stage - Lodestar Tools (item level 640). These are currently the strongest primary tools.
  • The final two stages of crafter relics require doing Expert Recipes. It is possible to complete relic tools without pentamelded gear, but it will take longer.
