“"The hour of cleansing is at hand—by my searing light shall the world be purged of its taint."
Legatus of the VIIth Legion presently dispatched to the western front, van Darnus boasts distinguished parentage in his sire, a founding figure of the Garlean Empire. A ruthless man who has risen to infamy even among his own people, he draws no distinction betwixt friend and foe when met with dissent. Tales are oft told in hushed whispers of van Darnus's swift rise to power upon the abrupt death by illness of his sire, whose body had no sooner grown cold than his closest aides were put to death.
The White Raven seems a man well-suited to such dark rumors, for it is his pet project, "Meteor," that will herald Eorzea's inevitable plunge into the Seventh Umbral Era...
Motto: Opposition must needs be put down with fire and steel.
Weapon: Bradamante—a gunhalberd said to be named for a warrior maiden he slew.— https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/grandcompany/garlean_empire/
The son of a founding member of the Garlean Empire and a descendant of the ancient Allag, Nael was above all power-hungry and ruthless. When his father, alongside the Garlean Minister of Industry, Midas nan Garlond, began to research an Allagan relic known as the Lunar Transmitter in hopes of resurrecting the mythical Meteor sorcery without the need for magickal talent, Nael was present the first time the machine was successfully activated—the experience would leave him forever changed. For the rest of his life, Nael's actions would be subtly manipulated by an outside force. Believing himself to be the chosen vessel of a god, Nael dedicated his existence to bringing about the Seventh Umbral Era at His behest, leading to the events of the Seventh Umbral Calamity. It is eventually revealed that the real Nael died years before the events of 1.x, and his sister Eula had replaced him and assumed his identity.
Bradamante—a gunhalberd said to be named after a warrior maiden he slew.
