The Elemental Gauge indicates whether you are under the effect of Astral Fire or Umbral Ice, and the duration of their effects. Casting Fire spells grants Astral Fire, which increases the power of Fire spells in exchange for their increased MP cost. Casting Ice spells grants Umbral Ice, which decreases the MP cost of Ice spells and greatly increases the speed with which MP is recovered. If maximum stacks are accumulated for either Astral Fire or Umbral Ice, there will be no MP cost for spells of the opposite element.

When you learn the trait Enochian, the lower-right corner of the Elemental Gauge will display its status. Enochian will be granted when you are under the effects of either Astral Fire or Umbral Ice, and it will increase the amount of magic damage you deal. The effect will disappear when Astral Fire/Umbral Ice has finished.

Casting Blizzard IV grants three Umbral Hearts which are represented by arrows in the Elemental Gauge's lower-left corner. An Umbral Heart is consumed each time a Fire spell is cast, nullifying the MP cost increase applied by Astral Fire.

Foul or Xenoglossy can be used every 30 seconds while Enochian is active. The duration of Enochian can be confirmed in the lower-right corner of the Elemental Gauge. When Foul or Xenoglossy are available, the Crystal Polyglot at the bottom of the gauge will light up.

Elemental Gauge in PvP

The Elemental Gauge indicates whether you are under the effect of Astral Fire (after casting a Fire spell) or Umbral Ice (after casting a Blizzard spell). While under the effect of Astral Fire, Fire spells will have increased potency, and you will be able to cast Fire IV and Flare. While under the influence of Umbral Ice, all spells will have reduced cast and recast times, and you will be able to cast Blizzard IV and Freeze.

The time required to acquire a stack of Polyglot is reset should Astral Fire or Umbral Ice fade. However, any accumulated stacks will not be lost.
