Mysterious Map

Template:Item Mysterious Map can be used to obtain Alexandrite, the catalyst needed to upgrade Animus Weapons into Novus Weapons. Players will gain 1 Alexandrite for each Mysterious Map completed. Players will lose the Mysterious Map if he or she fails the task.

How to Obtain

Players can obtain the Mysterious Map in 2 ways. First players can purchase them for 400 Allagan Tomestone of Soldiery each from Auriana. Second players can obtain them by completing the quest Morbid Motivation. The quest tasks the player to complete a Expert Roulette and resets everyday.

Completing Mysterious Map

Solving Mysterious Map is similar to solving Treasure Hunt map. Before uncovering the treasure chest, the player will need to use Decipher and Dig then defeat a group of enemies.

  • Players can complete the map with the help of a party but only the owner of the map will receive the Alexandrite. Rest of the party members will get some gil.

Monsters and Other Enemies

1 Morbol Menace: The Morbol is quite dangerous. It can immobilize you for up to 30 seconds with an instant attack called Vine Probe, causing you to unable to dodge its Bad Breath attack. The Bad Breath is a frontal cone shaped AoE that applies a dozen debuff to all players hit.

  • Tanks can stun the boss when it is casting Bad Breath.
  • Player can position her Chocobo Companion tank in front of the boss then stand behind it.
  • This fight is dangerous and a party might be necessary.

4 Dire Gargoyles: Gargoyles will use 2 AoE attacks: Desolation and Grim Fate. Desolate is a frontal line attack that deals heavy damage. Grim Fate is a frontal AoE cone attack that also deals heavy damage. Gargoyles do not perform auto-attacks, dodge their AoE and focus them down 1 by 1.

1 Woad Back, 1 Gold Back, 1 Wine Back (3 Cockatrice monsters): Each of the 3 Cockatrice monsters has a different instant cast AoE status effect. Woad Back can petrify the player, Wind Back can poison the player and Gold Back can paralyze the player. Players should kill Woad Back quickly to avoid being paralyzed. Next the player should kill Gold Back, followed by Wind Back.

  • Kill Order: Woad Back, Gold Back, Wind Back

1 Alpha Golem, many Bomb adds: Dodge the AoE attacks of Golem. Kill bombs that spawn or after a while they will charge at you and detonate all at once.

Monocular Cyclops, 8 Puk adds: Dodge the attacks of the Cyclops. If you are ranged, do not be too close to the boss. Get ready to get out of his melee range and avoid the 100 Tonze Swing. Puks can be quite weak, they can be quickly killed by AoE.

1 Bomb: When the Bomb expends, move away to avoid the explosion. When the Bomb is normal-sized, attack it.

Gelid Eye:Side-step its AoE to avoid petrification.
