“Native to tropical and sub-tropical climes, the beak of the colibri is believed to be curved to allow it better access to the nectar hidden deep within raincatcher flowers. For reasons still a mystery, many colibri are drawn to items that sparkle when struck by light - such as pearlescent shells, agates, and fallen gil - and will swallow the items whole. Colibri also have developed the uncanny skill of mimicry, in which they will imitate sounds recently heard as a form of defence against predators.
