Baatu of the Oronir is an Au Ra found in The Azim Steppe. He is a minor character introduced with the Stormblood expansion, belonging to the Oronir tribe. He appears in a number of quests relating to his tribe during the Stormblood main story.

The right hand of the most radiant is fervently devout, fearing even to enter those places where the light of the Dawn Father cannot reach, such as the depths of Azim Khaat. It is perhaps because of this shared faith, as well as their enduring friendship, that he has no difficulty speaking his mind to Magnai. Like many Oronir, Baatu tends to regard those of other tribes as his lessers, though he is quicker to recognize one's worth and afford them a measure of respect. Though Baatu is but a year older than Magnai,[1] he has been married for three years to a talented healer, whose skillful ministrations saw him make a full recovery from the grave injuries he suffered in the last Naadam. Before they were wed, it was with some hesitation that he sought the most radiant's blessing, but to his surprise Magnai betrayed no sign of anger or resentment. Nevertheless, Baatu prays daily that their leader might one day know his happiness.
