To-Do List

Introduction

There are a lot of missing pages and blank spaces in this wiki. In an effort to assist in finding all the problems, please edit this page with bulleted lists of things you see that need done. When an item on the list has been worked on, indicate with parenthesis what was done, and if it still needs more info, pictures, formatting, or anything else.

The main goal for this page is to lay out everything that needs user contributions, so even if you only have a few minutes, it is very easy to find something you are particularly interested in or knowledgeable about and shape it up a bit. Be ambitious!

Important

  • Stat Squish - As of Patch 6.0 all sources of Experience EXP are now out of date. All gear pages will be incorrect as well.
    • Gatherer's Boon (I have attempted to remove references to HQ gathering, but may have missed some Freedom4556 (talk) 18:20, 30 December 2021 (UTC))
    • All Belts removed from loot tables and sidequests. Report in if you find any lingering. Freedom4556 (talk) 17:40, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
      • All recipes removed from craftable belts Freedom4556 (talk) 17:52, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
  • Party Finder needs updating to current state. I have added explanations linking to the PF page to all the ARR and HW Ex trials, so now we need to beef it up.
  • PvP-related pages are outdated

Templates

  • Template:Dropped by needs another column to display the value of the | coordinates = parameter immediately after the location.
    • Also, we need to fix the way it reacts to items in secondary chests in dungeons, see all Stormblood dungeons: ex. Rhino Beetle Carapace and Sirensong Sea. Freedom4556 (talk) 16:35, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
    • Coordinates added. IMO the best way to handle dungeons would be to filter them from the initial #ask altogether, and just have a separate list (like Rhino Beetle Carapace does, although it could be made into a similar template). Lvdr (talk) 08:48, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
      • Separate template for dungeons sounds like a good idea. Filtering them out of the mob drop template is probably best. Freedom4556 (talk) 16:39, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
  • Template:Vendor table needs to be fixed to work as described. Ideally, I'd like to use it on pages like Tarnished Alexandrian Bolt to show all the items that can be gotten in exchange for the item on the page. Right now we are having to build those tables manually, like on Behemoth Horn. Basically, the opposite of what Template:Vendor list does, which is all the vendors selling the item. I want all the vendors selling other things in exchange for the item. Freedom4556 (talk) 16:39, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
    • I tried to look at this last August and got stumped! Hopefully someone can figure it out. I think its just the Template:Vendor item table result format‎‎ that is the issue as the query seems to work and pull the info - it's just the item icon and the cost that don't show. JohnnySolas (talk)
    • Should work now, see if that fits your use case. Lvdr (talk) 13:15, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
      • It's looking great, couple pieces of feedback:
  1. The cost column only goes 3 items wide, but as you see on Jalzahn, we need it to go at least 14 items wide. Freedom4556 (talk) 16:41, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
  2. Another feature needed so I can use the template with collectables. It needs to show how many of an item you are buying, in addition to how many items the cost is. Look at Oddly Delicate Pickaxe Part to see what I mean. Freedom4556 (talk) 20:21, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
  • Requesting an addition to the properties for the Quest formatting templates. PollyEdaline (talk) 02:19, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
    • Add a "required items" property that can be optionally called by the table
      • Added. Lvdr (talk) 10:12, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
    • Split guaranteed and optional rewards on the table, with optional rewards being an optional parameter
      • Did this with split-optional-rewards parameter to table header; needs item-rewards parameter to work. This way the behavior doesn't change for existing tables. Lvdr (talk) 13:48, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
  • The Action Infobox Template could use a tweak to prevent Casting from being a property that shows up on every infobox, as the information is not necessary and every other property is technically optional (even the Name, although this will always at least pull from the page title). I've already tweaked it so that Range, Radius, and Targeting are no longer mysteriously in the same function and will no longer show on every single action box even when the information is completely irrelevant or self-evident. They can still be filled in if necessary and can display. PollyEdaline (talk) 22:15, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Do we want to convert levequests / guildleves to the Quest Infobox like LevequestRodents of Unusual Size as been done?
    • I was going too after I finished converting all the FATES look at creating a new template to replace the old grey one, but if the quest infobox template works then go ahead. Comparing the two templates quickly - I think the only missing thing is 'category' from the newer template? JohnnySolas (talk)
      • That seems to be the case. It is used for the plate name, like "constancy" etc. There are 1504 guildleves on the old template by the transclusion count, so it will be a slow process. Freedom4556 (talk) 22:33, 10 January 2022 (UTC)
    • With this it'd be nice to move to a guildleve list template, following the example of Template:Quest_list. The Carpenter Levequests ARR table looks v nice to my eyes. One option would be to extend the quest list template, but I think there's enough difference here to just have separate templates, maybe one for Battlecraft leves and one for Tradecraft and Fieldcraft leves. Would also help in propagating the exp changes across the wiki. Lvdr (talk) 10:40, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
      • Template:Quest_list does not work as depicted in its usage section. It only seems to work for required items, not quest names or required class. Freedom4556 (talk) 19:22, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Replace Quest pages with modernized markup (requires some additional template properties, see #Templates) PollyEdaline (talk) 02:41, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Overhauled DoH/L pages to match combat pages, should probably also do another pass on them to actually add more relevant information or even generalized information, which was sorely lacking before
  • Probably remove the "requires quest" column from the actions template or at least double check that it's working since I don't think it was even before I changed it PollyEdaline (talk) 04:01, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
    • The only crafter action that is on a class quest is Manipulation and it's the level 65 quest for each class. Freedom4556 (talk) 06:16, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
      • Yeah I'm not entirely certain it's necessary to have it on there, especially once I can properly overhaul the quest pages. The quest template is just not robust enough without some additional properties PollyEdaline (talk) 20:51, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
        • There are 4333 pages transcluding Template:Quest infobox and we just spent the better part of half a year converting over to it. Freedom4556 (talk) 21:45, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
          • And? It looks great but is missing at least two useful properties. These properties can be easily added without breaking any existing pages. Some pages do not currently use the template (notably DoH quest pages) and those pages either need an additional box for their required items (clunky) or a property on the table. Plus, the table does not presently split optional and guaranteed rewards, which some quests still have. PollyEdaline (talk) 22:13, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Create new template for DoH/L traits to reduce page bloat (duplicate existing trait template) PollyEdaline (talk) 02:41, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Another useful template would be an icon one for Status effects like Doom (status effect) icon1.png Doom. Perhaps use {{tomestone|Poetics}} = Allagan Tomestone of Poetics for inspiration? Freedom4556 (talk) 04:33, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

Notes

I know there are many many more things that need done, like updating pictures and fleshing out descriptions, so post everything you see here so that we all know what needs done!

Hi, I'm not sure where to post this so I hope this is okay. I'm new here and have been slowly getting into contributing here especially since I maintain wikis and stuff in my professional career. I have found that I would love to gather major contributors to discuss about having a standard style guide so formatting and writing is consistent throughout the wiki? I know there is a basic one but I was hoping for some more thorough ones. Freedom mentioned adding icons with status effects above and I agree with him (and thanks for adding them in for me in Dun Scaith. You beat me to it :D). I also noticed for such a small group there are so many articles to maintain, so I was hoping to bring up using Google Analytics to see where most web traffic is going so priority are always on those pages when it comes to updates. In addition, I would like to discuss where we can outsource some of the info because we cannot possibly maintain all this info. I was hoping there would be a discord channel but I haven't seen it. If there is one, would you mind sharing it with me? Thanks so much! -Fix3rupp3r --
