Jorin Lightheart, also known as Jorin Pota was the first Hyur who managed to commune with the Elementals following the exile of the Ixal from the Black Shroud.

Following several centuries of fruitless attempts by the people of Gelmorra, Jorin managed to use the White Magic of the people of Amdapor to reach the Elementals. They were able to enter into peace talks, and the Gelmorrans were granted permission to come above ground, as long as they pledged themselves to protecting the forest as long as they called it their home. Jorin was given a blessing of light as proof of the accord, and most of the Gelmorrans came above ground to live their new lives. Following this, Jorin founded the discipline of Conjury, and taught others how they may commune with the Elementals. Soon after, the city-state of Gridania was born.

Many years later, Jorin and his wife had a child, and it became clear the effects of the blessing of the Elementals; their child was born with a set of horns and did not seem to age past childhood. Soon, the child became aware that he could hear the Elementals, and he took the name I-Ohok-Pota. This child was the first Padjal. When the child took the surname Pota, so too did Jorin.
