Additional Information
The Maelstrom's second in command, Grand Storm Marshal Slafyrsyn brings the wisdom of his fifty eight summers to his position as Merlwyb's trusted advisor. He has often had to soothe the Admiral, as she will seek to fight at the vanguard when her ire is raised. This in no way reflects upon his own bravery, however, for he is known to be a skilled and daring Marauder on the field-or seas- of battle. Though Eynzahr claims to have served as captain on a heavily-armed merchant vessel for many years, the Sea Wolf's story is shrouded in mystery. According to the gossip of fishwives, he is actually the legendary pirate king Mistbeard, whom no man has seen for the past twenty-two summers. They also say that he befriended Merlwyb through the bitter enmity and fierce fighting betwixt the two. He is an avid collector of masks-though none seem to be privy as to why.
Lore
Eynzahr aided in the confrontation of Leviathan after the Sahagin summoned their Primal by suggesting the Scions of the Seventh Dawn and the Warrior of Light take the battle to the seas where the great serpent made its home. He suggested the same strategy employed by Mistbeard in which he hauled a small vessel behind his larger one that carried a massive amount of plunder, but instead of gold, it carried corrupted crystals and a device to defend against the serpents powers. Eynzahr controlled the vessel that hauled the ship of crystals out to sea where the Warrior of Light did battle against Leviathan. When commended for his plan, and asked how he was so familiar with the actions of Mistbeard, he redirected the attention and gave a half-answer.
Later, Eynzahr joined the Warrior of Light on an excursion to Hullbreaker Isle to retrieve a treasure left there by Mistbeard himself. After slaying the beast guarding the chest, Eynzahr opened it to reveal a large mask, explaining that Mistbeard was actually a name carried by many throughout the ages, and used this mask to conceal their true identity. The Warrior of Light quietly concludes that Eynzahr may very well have been the most recent Mistbeard, but doesn't voice this opinion out loud.
When the Sahagin began preparing for an attack in Skull Valley, Eynzahr joined in the operation alongside Wheiskaet, Curious Gorge, Broken Mountain and the Warrior of Light to defeat them. After witnessing the power of the Warrior brothers, he asked them to pass on their techniques to the other members of the Maelstrom, effectively allowing their dreams of sharing their ancient skills along to the wider world.
At a training exercise on Hullbreaker Isle, Eynzahr oversees the exercise and asks the Warrior of Light to join in. Eynzahr decided to act as the final barrier to the end of the exercise, and engaged with the Warrior of Light in battle. After receiving permission, he tosses pretense aside and dons the mask and outfit of Mistbeard, confirming that he was indeed one of the great pirates of legend, and that all present were aware of his secret. After his defeat, he graciously thanks the Warrior of Light for allowing him to fight as Mistbeard one last time.
Eynzahr also joined in various high-profile operations, such as the final battle of Ala Mhigo, where he claims he should have brought his mask, and the meeting with the various Beast Tribes to bring them into the Eorzean Alliance.
