Journal

  • Loashkana is carefully planning her next move.
  • With a confident countenance, Loashkana is eager to share her most recent theory on Ellerete and Kokonowa's location. Having realized that the pair rarely returns to the scenes of their prior crimes, Loashkana wishes to take the hunt to eastern La Noscea next, and requests your company in scouting Costa del Sol.
  • Following brief pleasantries, you learn that Ellerete has already made herself known in Costa del Sol with a poisoned bottle of wine. Though Gegeruju has left no evidence of the vintage in question, Wheiskaet provides you with another promising lead: mammets have been wandering the vicinity of Raincatcher Gully, and Loashkana is keen to survey the area next.
  • Loashkana proposes the two of you split up and search Raincatcher Gully for any signs of recent activity. With a few key locations in mind, you begin your survey, remaining alert for any mechanical monstrosities along the way.
  • Your search proves Wheiskaet's rumors true, and several mammets manifest from the shadows. Though you easily transform Kokonowa's finest crafts into scrap metal, you discover a concerning collection of notes wedged within one of the mammets, depicting Vylbrand's waterways in great detail. With Ellerete's previous plot still fresh in your mind, you conclude that these notes may be connected to another potential scheme, and plan to share the evidence with Loashkana.
  • Nary a moment after you reconvene with Loashkana, you are ambushed by the very subjects of your discussion. Ellerete announces to the two of you that she will stop at nothing to play her final trick on all who call Vylbrand home, and vanishes with Kokonowa in a cloud of ill-smelling smoke. Loashkana is rightfully concerned by these developments, and seeks your council before proceeding further.
  • After recovering from the ambush, Loashkana─though disheartened at the thought of letting Ellerete and Kokonowa escape─admits that there is likely naught else to be found in the area, and suggests you report to Gegeruju and Wheiskaet at Costa del Sol.
  • You promptly return to Costa del Sol to share your findings with Gegeruju and Wheiskaet. With their future cooperation secured, the two of you decide to return to Limsa Lominsa.
  • Knowing that countless lives hang in the balance, Loashkana fears that Ellerete's endgame is nigh, and allowing the Unbound to walk freely is too great a risk. She bids you prepare for the potential battle to come, and will await word from Gegeruju's messengers in the meantime.
    • ※The next role quest will be available from Loashkana upon reaching level 100 in any healer class.

Dialogue

Accepting the Quest

Loashkana: Forename! I'm glad you're here. I'm on the cusp of a breakthrough in our search...or I'd like to think so.
Loashkana: This won't come as a surprise, but Ellerete and Kokonowa went back into hiding after the Bronze Lake incident. With all their grandstanding, I wasn't expecting them to lay low for so long, but I doubt they'll keep it that way.
Loashkana: Fortunately, we have prior experience to guide us. Until now, our culprits have traveled all over Vylbrand, and they don't appear to be retracing their steps.
Loashkana: I hear Costa del Sol attracts many visitors, so that seems a likely target. They say it's owned by an entrepreneur named Gegeruju─perhaps we can ask if he's spied anything out of the ordinary.

Speak with Loashkana at Costa del Sol

Loashkana: What picturesque scenery! I hadn't expected Costa del Sol to be so grand.
Loashkana: From what I gather, Gegeruju should be just up ahead. I don't suppose you're already acquainted with him?
What will you say?
> I know him well enough.
> For better or for worse, yes.
< I know him well enough. >
Loashkana: That's reassuring to hear! I feared he'd be wary of strangers, but it sounds like that won't be an issue in your company!
< For better or for worse, yes. >
Loashkana: That's...not very encouraging. But as long as you're on good enough terms, I'm sure we'll be fine!
Loashkana: In any case, let's be on our way.

Cutscene

Gegeruju: Well, well! If it isn't our favorite intrepid adventurer! What business brings you to my abode?
Gegeruju: Why, yes, I did spy that lovely specimen of a Hyur! Alas, I was so entranced by her feminine wiles that I cannot recall any such entourage of Lalafellin men or mammets.
Gegeruju: Ahhh, would that I never drank that wine she so gracefully gifted me! A single sip, and I saw oh-so-many stars...I thought them wonderful in those first, blissful moments.
Gegeruju: I partook of the drink amongst my retinue of kittens... Yet as the rush of stars subsided, I found myself surrounded by a flock of unfamiliar faces instead!
Gegeruju: At first, I presumed the wine caught up to me faster than I had anticipated. But time passed, and the unknown faces stubbornly remained!
Gegeruju: I dashed across the shore in terror. In the midst of the mayhem, I could hear her─the wine-wielding beauty─maniacally laughing in the distance with some other chap! I feared these cackles would be the last thing I ever heard!
???: ...Which is precisely why I found it appropriate to slap the sense back into him.\
Wheiskaet: Judging by the way Master Gegeruju was darting around at the time, I suspected he'd been in his cups. Drank the whole bloody bottle, too, so if you wished to investigate the wine itself, I'm afraid that won't be possible.
Gegeruju: Can you blame me!? Questionability of her wine aside, that woman was immaculate! A sight for sore eyes! Any gentleman of taste would have fallen for her tricks!
Wheiskaet: Though we may lack the drink in question, we received reports of mammets roaming Raincatcher Gully not long after the incident.
Wheiskaet: If you intend to investigate this further, you'd certainly be doing us a favor.
Loashkana: Any news of wayward mammets is promising for us! We'll give the gully a look and relay to you whatever we find.
Wheiskaet: Godsspeed out there.
Loashkana: Then our next destination is clear. But before we depart, Forename, might I have a word?
Wheiskaet: I intend to keep a sharp eye on Master Gegeruju in the coming days, lest he accept any more dubious gifts.
Wheiskaet: You have my thanks for pursuing those criminals─the faster we end their schemes, the better.
Loashkana: Based on Gegeruju's account, it's safe to say Ellerete's discovered a new poison.
Loashkana: While similar to the hallucinatory toxin she used at Bronze Lake, it strikes terror into the hearts of its victims instead.
Loashkana: I have a bad feeling about this. She's gaining proficiency with the Heartsting at an alarming rate, so we must tread carefully when next we cross paths with her.
Loashkana: As for the mammets... Kokonowa doesn't seem the type to send them wandering around aimlessly.
Loashkana: That's why I think they're bound to have some clues on them. If we can track those mammets down in Raincatcher Gully, we may be able to discern what those two are planning next.
