He provides unlocks for most high-end duties (most extreme trials, some savage raids, and all ultimate raids) by asking the player character to recount their original combat encounters. Lore-wise, high-end duties are the Minstrel's interpretation of the original encounters with several creative liberties that explain the more difficult mechanics.

He also appeared for a time during the end of the Legacy version of Final Fantasy XIV, distributing the Goobbue mount to players that had reached level 30. The lore justification for the end of this distribution was a report of his arrest.
