Journal
- Rral Majun has a nervous look in her eyes.
- Tentoawa contacts you on linkpearl to inform you that Apyaahi and her cohorts are leaving Hhusatahwi. With your weapon at the ready, you make your way to the gates of Tuliyollal to rendezvous with your allies.
- As expected, Apyaahi approaches Tuliyollal in force, and after a fierce battle against all manner of beasts, you finally best the architect of the Passage of the Unbound. With your enemy's bag of tricks finally empty, you move to apprehend the villainess.
- As you approach, Apyaahi attempts to use the treasure's power one last time, but a well-placed arrow from Kuiyki destroys the object, leaving Apyaahi defenseless at last. The Viera does not resist as the Landsguard take her into custody, but she seems confident that her organization will live on. The truth of that remains to be seen, but for now, you are free to celebrate a hard-fought victory with your allies.
- Your allies express their joy and relief that the Passage of the Unbound have been stopped at last. Buoyed by the feeling of victory, you and your comrades return to Tuliyollal to apprise Rral Majun of what transpired.
- News of your triumph has already traveled to Xbalyav Ty'e, it seems, and Rral Majun informs you that the creatures you fought were in fact made from many small fungi. With the final mystery of Apyaahi's treasure revealed, the time for farewells is nigh, and your companions gather on the beach to share parting words with you.
- Tentoawa has managed to wean his village away from dependence on the Cradle of the Sleepless and now enjoys restful nights. He works to build solidarity among his fellows so that they can all contribute to their home's safety. Heartened by his story, you turn to Loashkana to see how she fares.
- As with Tentoawa before her, Loashkana and her people have also worked to live without depending on their treasure by building up their natural resistance to various toxins. Although it is a slow process of trial and error, she seems hopeful that they will reach their goal eventually. With your conversation at an end, you turn to speak with Kuiyki.
- Kuiyki is resolute in becoming a hunter worthy of her mentor's legacy, and asks you to look forward to hearing of her exploits in the future. Hopeful that you will, you turn to Ceetol Ja, who still seems excited by the day's proceedings.
- Ceetol Ja tells you that she received word from Kaqool Ja, who will soon be released from imprisonment and plans to visit her village. She hopes that the mercenary can find a permanent home with her people, and looks forward to potentially visiting Tuliyollal more often. With one more companion left to say your good-byes to, you turn to Tepeke.
- Tepeke is confident that her people can eventually learn to use the Perch of the Apex as a tool, instead of viewing it as something to be feared. Thoroughly encouraged that your companions seem to be on bright paths, the time has sadly come to part ways, and so you make ready to return to Br'uk Evu and Rral Majun.
- Your companions each go their separate ways, and with the saga of the treasures concluded, you sit down to enjoy a quiet moment with Br'uk Evu and Rral Majun. That is, until a group of loutish customers sit at an adjacent table, talking loudly about their plans to carry on Apyaahi's ideals. Not one to make the same mistake twice, Rral Majun wastes no time calling upon nearby Landsguard, who move to apprehend the pinheaded patrons. Sensing the end closing in, the group makes a hasty retreat, and the Landsguard follow in pursuit. As they run in an endless circle, you wonder whether you really have seen the last of the Passage of the Unbound...
Dialogue
Accepting the quest
Rral Majun: You said Tentoawa was keeping watch in Hhusatahwi, right? I suppose no news is good news...
Tentoawa: Apyaahi and her minions are preparing to depart. It's time, everyone─we make our stand before the gates of Tuliyollal!
Rral Majun: And here I was hoping that Apyaahi would turn herself in... Well, I suppose she'll just have to be brought in by force! Rral Majun: She might have that treasure, but she doesn't have our allies─and she certainly doesn't have you! Rral Majun: Today we stop the Unbound, and tomorrow we'll welcome a dawn in Tuliyollal free of their shadow!
Optional Dialogue
> How are things? Rral Majun: Apyaahi intends to attack Tuliyollal, and thanks to you we can prepare for her assault! Rral Majun: With not only her enforcers but now an army of beasts under her command, the fighting will be fierce. Thankfully, the Landsguard have pledged their help! Please, strike back together and drive the Passage of the Unbound from our home!
Kuiyki: My bow will aim true, I promise.
Tepeke: If our guess about the treasure's power is correct, this will not be an easy fight.
Tentoawa: I saw the Unbound leave Hhusatahwi. They should be here any moment.
Ceetol Ja: I can't fight, but I have medicine at the ready. I'll help however I can!
Speak with Loashkana at the Tuliyollal Trailhead
Loashkana: Although the circumstances that brought us together were less than fortunate, I am confident that in the end, we'll be the stronger for them. Loashkana: We won't allow the Passage of the Unbound to wreak havoc on Tuliyollal. Today Apyaahi and her ilk answer for their crimes!
System: Your progress through the battle will be saved at certain points. In the event that you are defeated, you will be able to try again from the most recent of these. System: Please note that if you enter battles associated with other quests or log out from the game, this progress will be lost.
Cutscene
Loashkana: They're here!
Tentoawa: We knew you were coming, Apyaahi! You and your gang of thugs won't be going any further!
Apyaahi: So, you've chosen to join the other sheep, have you? How disappointing. I offered you so much more than the life of a lapdog.
What will you say? > Villains like you don't deserve freedom. > I never intended to fight by your side.
Apyaahi: Hehe. Of course you would say that. You are Eorzea's savior, after all! Apyaahi: I knew it from the moment I saw you. And I suppose now you're asking yourself why I was so forthcoming with my plans. Apyaahi: I wanted you to see what we fight for. To realize the beauty of true freedom, and devote yourself to the pursuit of it as our ally. Alas.
Tepeke: Your “allies” only follow you because the treasure has them in its thrall! No one would willingly follow such a reckless leader!
Apyaahi: Interesting. You think I have the power to command others against their will?
Tepeke: Well, don't you?
Apyaahi: Oh, you are far more foolish than I believed! I would never rob anyone of their freedom!
Landsguard Sentry: Look! Beasts approach from the Tuliyollan side!
Ceetol Ja: But how!?
Tentoawa: We committed too heavily to this side, and now she strikes at our blind spot! We must open the gate!
Apyaahi: The path to a new tomorrow lies ever before us. We need only be brave enough to walk it!!
Valiant Landsguard: Leave this lot to us. You tend to the others!
Solo Instance Part 1
Quickdart Kuiyki: We have to take care of these beasts before going after Apyaahi!
Loashkana the Leal: Over here, Forename!
Apyaahi the Architect: As I feared... My creatures cannot live up to the real thing. Apyaahi the Architect: How about this?
Tepeke the Contrite: I'll end this in a single blow!
Apyaahi the Architect: No, I think not.
Tepeke the Contrite: Attacking from above!? Devious...
Quickdart Kuiyki: Leave the skies to me. The rest of you, focus on the big one!
Apyaahi the Architect: A tenacious lot, aren't you? Well, I suppose I wouldn't want you to fall too quickly.
Loashkana the Leal: There are so many...but we will persevere! Loashkana the Leal: I can smother them in flames. Lend me your protection!
Apyaahi the Architect: Scheming, are we? Don't think I'll allow you to do as you please.
System: Protect Loashkana!
Apyaahi the Architect: Crush them underfoot! Apyaahi the Architect: No! My poor, pitiful pets! Apyaahi the Architect: So I cannot rely on numbers alone... Keep them distracted, my darlings!
Tepeke the Contrite: We'll be fine. Go after Apyaahi!
System: Pursue Apyaahi!
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: I might be in trouble...
Apyaahi the Architect: Something a little different this time. Behold the fruits of my travels across Tural.
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: Thanks for the help! Now to catch Apyaahi!
Apyaahi the Architect: Don't think you've won yet. Apyaahi the Architect: You're strong, to be sure. But so is this!
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: Send your worst─I won't lose!
Ceetol Ja the Gracious: Don't hold back! My medicines will keep you upright!
Apyaahi the Architect: Limits are just more rules to be broken!
Ceetol Ja the Gracious: That doesn't look good...
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: Worry not. Get behind me, and you'll be safe!
Apyaahi the Architect: You...you survived that!? Apyaahi the Architect: Bah, even bugs squirm before they die. This time I'll finish things! Apyaahi the Architect: You're as stubborn as the mud stuck to my sandals... Yet that alone is not enough to─ What? Apyaahi the Architect: Something's gotten into them... Apyaahi the Architect: I admit... I may have underestimated you lot. Apyaahi the Architect: And while defeating you would be quite the feather in my cap, the gates of Tuliyollal are a much easier target...
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: Curses, she's making a run for it! Follow her, Forename!
System: Pursue Apyaahi!
Apyaahi the Architect: Anything that would obstruct the free world I aim to create will be destroyed!
Mid-instance Cutscene
Apyaahi: Must you insist on being a thorn in my side? Apyaahi: Very well. Then I shall plant the banner of evil upon the corpse of Eorzea's hero, and the meek shall flock to me! Apyaahi: Make my fervent desire manifest! Grant me the power to seize undying freedom!
Solo Instance Part 2
Apyaahi the Architect: Go forth, my prickly punisher, and crush those who would bind us! Apyaahi the Architect: ...My, but what is this sudden, dreadful feeling...? Perhaps I haven't been sleeping well as of late.
Apyaahi the Architect: Impressive. I expected no less of you. But this farce ends here! Apyaahi the Architect: Now, smash him to a pulp!
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: I don't think so!
Apyaahi the Architect: So you find comfort in fellowship. At least this will save me the trouble of killing you one by one. Apyaahi the Architect: This is your moment, my pointy pugilist!
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: Ungh... It's getting even stronger!
Quickdart Kuiyki: Forename, we are at your back! Together we'll repel this foul creature!
System: Repel the mycotender's arms!
Ceetol Ja the Gracious: Keep going, everyone!
Apyaahi the Architect: How...how can you stand before the treasure's might!? What are you!? Apyaahi the Architect: Such power...power that would be welcome within the Passage of the Unbound! Apyaahi the Architect: Do not falter, my spiky soldier!
Tentoawa the Wide Heart: Gather around Forename, everyone!
Apyaahi the Architect: Can you withstand this!?
Loashkana the Leal: Spread out, or we'll be swept away!
Apyaahi the Architect: You scurry about like rats! Pulverize them with this, my barbed barbarian!
Quickdart Kuiyki: Is this...poison? Stay away from it!
Apyaahi the Architect: No... Even my spiny savior has fallen... Apyaahi the Architect: Grrr! I'm not finished yet! I can replenish my ranks!
Post-instance Cutscene
Apyaahi: It seems I must admit defeat... Apyaahi: Yet know this: I do not believe the ideals for which I fought were misguided. Apyaahi: Think back upon the leaders who came before you. Those five self-serving souls who dared to live as they pleased! Apyaahi: Each one the perfect image of liberty. Yet ultimate perfection cannot be achieved without ultimate power! Apyaahi: That is why we fought. Why we became villains─to tear down the world's nations and their stifling rules so that the voiceless many may speak again!
Tepeke: What made you feel this way?
Apyaahi: Forename has told you already, surely. Yet the exile that emboldened my hatred of meaningless restrictions also led to my awakening. I couldn't have known true freedom without it. Apyaahi: And as I traveled the world, I noticed the same thing everywhere I went. That the many were bound by the few. Apyaahi: In Gridania, citizens are discouraged from joining hands with their neighbors. In Ul'dah, merchants craft laws to exert their control over others. Even in Limsa Lominsa, once lawless pirates are made to bow to the state! Apyaahi: Need I say more? The countless Ishgardians who were tricked into sacrificing themselves when their church fanned the flames of war. The people of the east, whose entire lives are determined by outdated customs and mores. Apyaahi: I had to go west to find what I sought. Here in Tural, I lived a life unbound! Apyaahi: Or so I thought. After a terrible tragedy, I was forced to find a new home once again...
Tentoawa: Terrible? What happened?
Apyaahi: I can scarcely say it... I was asked to pay for my lodgings!
Kuiyki: Pay...? You mean, you hadn't been paying all along?
Apyaahi: Why should I have to trade coin for a roof over my head!? In my village, charging for something so essential was unthinkable─so long as one followed the rules, that is. Apyaahi: For the first time since my exile, I questioned my path... I nigh convinced myself that taking care of my drunken sisters night after night wasn't so bad after all.
Loashkana: Where...where did you live, again? Loashkana: No, that doesn't matter... Surely, if you can accept trading labor for housing, you can understand the reasons behind trading coin for it!
Apyaahi: No... Money is just another rule that's used to control us. A rule that I won't accept! Apyaahi: I was forced to live on the streets. In my tent I plotted─the rebellion would start with me, and end with the authority of every nation in tatters! Apyaahi: Yet one day, after long hours of sowing discontent, I returned to find my tent gone. In its place stood a sign that read “No vagrancy.”
Ceetol Ja: The last thing you owned was gone in an instant. That can't have been easy...
Tentoawa: I can understand your perspective, Apyaahi. But a world where everyone did what they pleased would soon fall to chaos. Laws are the only things which keep us from that. Tentoawa: And I know firsthand what it's like to be bound by old rules─rules whose purposes are sometimes baffling. Tentoawa: But you don't have to follow them blindly. If you're dissatisfied, you can work to change them. What you speak of, Apyaahi, is not freedom─it is self-indulgence!
Apyaahi: So you're saying...if I change the law, I can do whatever I please!
Tentoawa: Not a word got through to her...talking any more would just be a waste of breath. Tentoawa: It's time to put her in chains!
Landsguard Sentry: This is all your doing, isn't it!? It's time you joined the rest of your minions!
Apyaahi: I won't resist, but this isn't over. Those who share my vision will hear of this injustice, and they will carry on my legacy! Apyaahi: The Passage of the Unbound shall remain open forevermore!
Optional Dialogue
Tentoawa: Freedom that harms others is no freedom at all. Living in a society has its challenges, but it allows us to support each other as a group.
Tepeke: Judging by how her force was mostly composed of wild beasts, I take it Apyaahi couldn't send many of her henchmen to Tural. Perhaps Virazahn's resources have finally run dry.
Kuiyki: Finally, the Unbound are in chains. Do you think I'toca would be proud of us? Of me...?
Loashkana: I knew anyone who admired Ellerete would have twisted morals, but even so, I'm shocked by the depth of Apyaahi's depravity.
Speak with Ceetol Ja
Ceetol Ja: Your bravery was inspiring, everyone! Ceetol Ja: Apyaahi is in the custody of the Landsguard, and her treasure is destroyed. Without their leader and secret weapon, the Unbound may well and truly be finished. Ceetol Ja: We should return to Xbalyav Ty'e and let Rral Majun know about our victory here.
Optional Dialogue
Br'uk Evu: Good work on bringing Apyaahi to justice. Any food and drink you want is on the house!
Speak with Rral Majun in Tuliyollal (cutscene)
Rral Majun: I heard all about your battle with the Passage of the Unbound. Leave it to you all to not only capture their leader, but do so without anyone in Tuliyollal coming to harm! Rral Majun: By the way, mages from the Wing of Protection inspected the remains of the beasts you fought. Their discoveries were...surprising, to say the least. Rral Majun: They weren't actually individual organisms, you see, but a collection of minute fungi that had taken the form of familiar creatures. Rral Majun: The mages concluded that the tural vidraal sealed within the treasure was likely once a fungi itself. Rral Majun: This explains the sightings of Apyaahi traveling with beasts of all sorts at her beck and call. She built her army by finding the fiercest creatures she could and recreating them with the power of the treasure. Rral Majun: But you stood against that army without a shade of fear in your eyes. As a token of gratitude, you're all welcome to tacos on the house whenever you're in town! Rral Majun: Speaking of which, I hear Tentoawa and the others will soon be returning to their respective villages. Good-byes are always bittersweet, but I'm sure they'd love to speak with you one last time.
Optional Dialogue
Rral Majun: Well, if it isn't my favorite customer! Thanks to you, the world is free from the Passage of the Unbound's villainy. If there's anything I can do for you, you need only say the word!
< How are things? > Rral Majun: Tuliyollal is safe, and we have you and our dear allies to thank for it! You're welcome to all the tacos your stomach can hold!
< Tell me about the sacred treasures. > Rral Majun: They are objects of incredible power, passed down through generations to clans hailing from all corners of Tural. Rral Majun: Within each is sealed the essence of an animal which became a fearsome tural vidraal, and these have come to be revered by their respective peoples. Rral Majun: These treasures allow their wielder to harness the power of the beast within them, and thus have the clans protected their homes. Rral Majun: If Apyaahi is to be believed, the treasures were created by a Yok Huy calling himself the Wise One. And now that hers has been destroyed, we need no longer fear that they will be misused!
< Tell me about the Passage of the Unbound. > Rral Majun: The Landsguard told me why Apyaahi founded her villainous organization. And what a story it is...a trivial, ridiculous story. Rral Majun: Thankfully, without the treasures to rely upon, the Passage of the Unbound has no teeth. No doubt the authorities of nations across the star will root out the remaining members─though I expect the organization will fade into obscurity soon enough regardless.
Loashkana: This short time together with you has reminded me of Wyssulm and Zerig. I wonder how they fare? Perhaps I'll write them a letter and find out.
Tepeke: It seems my parents fell in love with the tacos here while they awaited my return from Thavnair. I'm sure they'd be happy if I brought some home with me.
Kuiyki: I want to spend some time in Tuliyollal's markets before I return home. I've been thinking a spare pair of spectacles might be a prudent purchase.
Ceetol Ja: Every time I come to Xbalyav Ty'e, I'm amazed by all the different kinds of people gathered around its tables. I wish there was a place like this in my village!
Tentoawa: During my time in Ishgard, I realized the cuisines of the world are as varied as its people. No doubt the prospect of discovering new delicacies adds excitement to your travels!
Speak with Tentoawa
Tentoawa: I neglected to mention this earlier, but I was able to convince everyone back home to stop relying on the cradle. My sleepless days are over, but I've been busier than ever. Tentoawa: I've looked to Ishgard's knights for inspiration on how to build solidarity among the villagers. We train together and take turns on watch, among other things. Tentoawa: Loazenikwe no longer needs to spend her days abed, and sometimes joins us in our drills. I admit this new life wouldn't be the same without her. Tentoawa: A new life for which we both owe you thanks, Forename. We'll keep striving to follow the example you set for us!
Speak with Loashkana
Loashkana: My people have accepted the fact that we cannot always rely upon the Heartsting, and even now train to build our natural resistance to various toxins. Loashkana: It took some time to figure out the right amounts to use, and I admit there were some close calls...but luckily, the Heartsting was at our disposal. Loashkana: Yet I believe that our strength lies in our ability to conquer hardship. I hope one day we can trust in our own abilities. Loashkana: That being said, it's been some time since I had a meal that wasn't laced with poison. I'd forgotten how delicious food could be!
Speak with Kuiyki
Kuiyki: The others will be glad to hear how key the Dreamweave Cocoon was to our success. Kuiyki: And though it seems Apyaahi recognized you from the moment you met, it didn't make a difference, did it? It just reaffirms for me that you've more than earned your renown as a hero. Kuiyki: I still aspire to become a hunter worthy of I'toca's legacy─and I know it will take a lot of time, and a lot of hard work. Kuiyki: For now, I'll focus on keeping my village safe, but I won't stop there. Keep your ears to the ground, Forename, for someday you might hear tales of Kuiyki, a hunter true!
Speak with Ceetol Ja
Ceetol Ja: Everyone was so brave! My heart always starts pounding when the fighting begins, but I didn't need to worry. Ceetol Ja: Since I'm here in Tuliyollal, I'll visit the market before I return to my village─ Oh, I almost forgot! Ceetol Ja: Kaqool Ja sent me a letter! He said the authorities have taken his circumstances into account and decided to be merciful. He'll be released soon, and just as promised, my village will be the first place he visits. Ceetol Ja: Everyone's looking forward to greeting him with open arms! If Kaqool Ja agrees to be our protector, then we can come to Tuliyollal more often.
Speak with Tepeke
Tepeke: To think the origin of the treasures lies with the Yok Huy. Even with such dominating strength as they possessed, they sought still more when their very survival was at stake. Tepeke: My people were afraid of the Apex, and so sealed it away within our treasure. But over time the treasure became as feared as the beast within it─thus we never considered using it as a tool to aid us. Tepeke: I've been training hard, and I hope that someday I can help my people view the treasure from a new perspective. It might take a while, but we'll get there. I'm already stronger than last time we met, right? Tepeke: Heh, you don't have to answer. But trust me when I tell you we won't take the easy road like Virazahn. Every bit of progress, we'll earn through hard work! Tepeke: On that note, as much as I'd like to stay, I suppose we all have homes waiting for us. Let's say our farewells to Br'uk Evu and Rral Majun.
Speak with Br'uk Evu
Br'uk Evu: I'm glad you got to catch up with everyone. Shall we bring this party to a close, then?
Cutscene
Loashkana: Be well, everyone!
Tentoawa: I'll bring Loazenikwe next time. I want her to meet the people who helped us.
Kuiyki: Stop by my village if you're ever in the region. I'll treat you to freshly hunted boar!
Ceetol Ja: Everyone get home safely! We'll meet again soon.
Tepeke: I hope I was able to pay back the debt I owe you, if only a little. If you ever need help again, you know how to reach me!
Rral Majun: It was a long and trying road, but the treasures are finally back in their rightful places.
Br'uk Evu: And the Passage of the Unbound, with no one to lead their meager numbers, will fade into obscurity. I'm sure we'll hear no more of them again!
Rral Majun: Here's to peace in Tuliyollal!
Unbound Roegadyn : Psh! “Rules”? “Basic social considerations”? Who needs them! Those pathetic bastards don't even see the yokes around their necks!
Unbound Au Ra: Did you see how nobly Apyaahi fought? As long as I can remember that sight, I'll never turn away from the path she showed us!
Unbound Lalafell: It's up to us to continue what she started. We don't need those artifacts to bring down nations─we'll find a whole new kind of weapon!
Unbound Miqo'te: The Passage of the Unbound shall remain ever open! And we'll be there to guide others upon it!
Rral Majun: There're more of you!? Rral Majun: Criminals! Over here!
Unbound Au Ra: By the gods, run! We can't be caught here!
Optional Dialogue
Br'uk Evu: I know you've been hard at work helping to solve Tural's problems, and we're grateful for it. You're welcome to relax here any time you want!
< How are things? > Rral Majun: 首領に加え、残党である幹部2期生たちも無事に逮捕されました。これでホントのホントに「自由の扉」は壊滅、安心して旅を続けていただいて大丈夫ですよ!
Rral Majun: ...Or so I had thought, until more leaders gathered in this very place! Rral Majun: Fortunately, they were apprehended almost immediately. Never again shall that abominable group trouble us... Never!
Notes
- In patch 7.16, Rral Majun had optional dialogue that was mistakenly not translated from Japanese. This was fixed in a hotfix one week later.
