Pre-Requisite

Before begin to create your Zodiac Weapon, you must:

Complete the Main Scenario Quest: The Ultimate Weapon
Complete all Class Quests & Job Quests from A Realm Reborn for your chosen job.
You will also need access to Amdapor Keep, The Bowl of Embers (Hard), The Howling Eye (Hard) and The Navel (Hard).

The Weaponsmith of Legend

Starting NPC:	Nedrick Ironheart
Starting Location:	Vesper Bay, Western Thanalan (x12,y14)
Your journey begins with "The Weaponsmith of Legend" quest. This is a one time quest and does not need to be repeated; further weapons will start from A Relic Reborn. For this quest, simply: Speak to Nedrick Ironheart (x12,y14) in Vesper Bay. Travel to Revenant's Toll in Mor Dhona to speak with Rowena (x22,y6). Travel to Hyrstmill in North Shroud to speak with Gerolt (x30,y20).

Part 1: Broken Weapons

Locate the broken quest weapon from the Beastmen Strongholds. The location is dependent on your specific job. Then report back to Gerolt again.

Part 2: Class Weapon

Purchase (or craft) the class weapon; then double-meld (attach two materias) it with two specific Grade III Materias. In order to meld, or to have another player meld an item for you, complete the quest Waking the Spirit. *(Materia Melder NPCs can do the melding for you - no need to have the quest done or to find a crafter. Requires ~1000 gil per meld.)

Part 3: Alumina Salts

Main article: A Relic Reborn: The Chimera

You now need to defeat Dhorme Chimera and obtain

Alumina Salts from the 8-man trial A Relic Reborn: The Chimera while as the job that equips the Zodiac Weapon. The entrance to A Relic Reborn: The Chimera can be found at Coerthas Central Highlands (X-32, Y-6). Afterwards report back to Gerolt.

Players with a high-level character (about level 70 or higher) may want to attempt the fight alone at their current level by using the "Unrestricted Party" duty finder option rather than waiting a long time for a duty finder match. The quest will still progress.

Part 4: Interview with the Padjal

Main article: Amdapor Keep

Gerolt now sends you to back to Rowena in Revenant's Toll as he needs the a specific book (the title depends on your job).
In exchange, Rowena wants the Amdapor Glyph from the dungeon Amdapor Keep in South Shroud.
While in Mor Dhona, purchase Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil for 15 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics and 3x Thavnairian Mist from Auriana for 20 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics each. Thavnairian Mist will be needed for later parts of the quest; you can save a trip by picking them up now.
Complete Amdapor Keep as your chosen job (you can be unsynced) and you will receive the Amdapor Glyph upon completing and exiting the dungeon.

Note: NOT Amdapor Keep (Hard) NOR The Lost City of Amdapor!

Bring the Amdapor Glyph back to Rowena; and then bring the book back to Gerolt to continue the quest.

Part 5: Beastmen Hunt

You are finally presented with your new Zodiac Weapon for the first time - through it's still unfinished. Equip your new weapon as your chosen job and defeat 24 specific beastmen in their respective stronghold for your job; then report back to Gerolt.

You now need to defeat Hydra from the 8-man trial A Relic Reborn: The Hydra while equipped with unfinished Zodiac Weapon. The entrance to A Relic Reborn: The Hydra is right next to the entrance to Halatali in Eastern Thanalan (x14,y30). Afterwards report back to Gerolt who will then start sending you one by one to the Primals.

Part 7: White-Hot Ember

Main article: The Bowl of Embers (Hard)

You now need to defeat Ifrit and obtain

White-Hot Ember from the 8-man trial The Bowl of Embers (Hard) while on the Job that needs it for the relic.

Part 8: Howling Gale

Main article: The Howling Eye (Hard)

You now need to defeat the Primal Garuda and obtain

Howling Gale from the 8-man trial The Howling Eye (Hard) while on the Job that needs it for the relic.

Part 9: Hyperfused Ore

Main article: The Navel (Hard)

You now need to defeat the Primal Titan and obtain

Hyperfused Ore from the 8-man trial The Navel (Hard) while on the Job that needs it for the relic. Afterwards report back to Gerolt.

Part 10: Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil

Gerolt needs one final ingredient. Purchase

Radz-at-Han Quenching Oil with

15 Allagan Tomestones of Poetics from Auriana in Mor Dhona. Report back to Gerolt who will present you with the completed Zodiac Weapon. Congratulations.

Reclaiming Zodiac Weapons

Should you ever lose your Zodiac Weapon, it can be repurchased it from Calamity Salvager in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks, Old Gridania and Ul'dah - Steps of Thal for 49,896 gil: however you will need to repeat any steps/quests/tasks to upgrade your Zodiac Weapon again.

Upgrade To Zenith Zodiac Weapons

After obtaining a Zodiac Weapon (iLvl 80), it can be upgraded to a Zenith Zodiac Weapons (iLvl 90) by combining Thavnairian Mist x3 in the Furnace in Hyrstmill, North Shroud. In the case of the Paladin Relics, 2 mists will be used on the sword and 1 on the shield.
