Introduction

There are a lot of missing pages and blank spaces in this wiki. In an effort to assist in finding all the problems, please edit this page with bulleted lists of things you see that need done. When an item on the list has been worked on, indicate with parenthesis what was done, and if it still needs more info, pictures, formatting, or anything else.

The main goal for this page is to lay out everything that needs user contributions, so even if you only have a few minutes, it is very easy to find something you are particularly interested in or knowledgeable about and shape it up a bit. Be ambitious!

Important

  • (Message posted on Discord by: Sophiane Valeriant I've been told that the information on the demimateria pages such as https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Fieldcraft_Demimateria_I and https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Battlecraft_Demimateria_I saying that you get it from desynthesis specifically from spiritbound gear is inaccurate. I have confirmed ingame that it is inaccurate for two different demimateria and edited those pages, but I think it's inaccurate for all of them? I don't want to edit pages that I haven't personally confirmed to be inaccurate, but if anyone else knows, the pages should be edited.
    • I thought I would just post this here so its on our radars and can be checked when we have a few minutes JohnnySolas (talk) 13:55, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
  • Action pages
    • Differentiate between acquired and affinity for classes/jobs
    • Potencies at earlier levels
    • Populate gallery
    • Categorize into raid buffs, healing, mitigation, etc.
    • Crosslink actions that are affected by other actions -- ex. Summon Phoenix
  • Duty images
  • Custom deliveries rewards in detail
    • Map showing NPC location and relevant crafting material vendor location
  • Implement semantics for gear tables and use to update stats since stat squish
    • Random substats (aetherial gear)
  • Check all Lv 1-50 gear stats
    • Do you mean stats on weapons/armor etc? As the majority of the stats were updated by User:Mico90 around 13th December just after the launch of 6.0 - do you think some were missed? JohnnySolas (talk) 15:25, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
      • Some were definitely missed, mostly semi-obsolete items like DAetherial gear. I have fixed a few. Freedom4556 (talk) 15:15, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
  • Check gil sell value
  • Update bosses for Duty Support dungeons
  • Just to mention - not sure if GT is one of them but with the talk I've seen lately - alot of FFXIV resources are to be sunset and new ones being launched in 7.0 so do we want to do this massive update on the off chance that GT may go? JohnnySolas (talk) 15:25, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
    • Haven't heard anything about this. Do you have a source? - Dr Agon (talk) 16:22, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
      • That's why I wasn't sure whether to mention it or not. The only mention I've seen is on the XIVAPI -> bug report channel where Miu mentions that every patch is basically a nightmare because there are so many updates they have to run for each of the systems they manage (XIVAPI, GT, Teamcraft, SaintCoinach) - and then goes on to say about XIVAPI being hopefully being sunset to make way for a new alternative by 7.0-7.3 to give people time who use the API to switch over. As GT pulls alot of data from XIVAPI that's my query I suppose - what would happen? Will it stay? Will it go? JohnnySolas (talk) 17:25, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
        • The ID numbers seem hard-coded in the game, so even if the API changes, the IDs shouldn't change. - Dr Agon (talk) 18:09, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
          • Sorry my bad - I thought the IDs were GTs own IDs not the actal game IDs that makes it easier :) JohnnySolas (talk) 13:50, 1 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Also note, Items that do not turn up in the Eorzea Database's own search can still be found using google with the site: setting. See this example for Chestnut plank icon1.png  Chestnut Plank Eorzea Database link Freedom4556 (talk) 19:29, 8 September 2023 (UTC)
  • Add available Trust NPCs to each dungeon/trial
  • Add GC supply/provisioning as a "used for".
  • Special:MultiPageEdit is giving "[7ab515230352de15cf9cc0e6] 2023-08-17 02:35:11: Fatal exception of type "InvalidArgumentException""/ Glotos (talk) 02:38, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
    • I think this is intentional to stop bots/harrasement etc but will check JohnnySolas (talk) 15:26, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
  • The "contained in" macro is showing Atrophied Atomos as being "contained in" Master Alchemist III. That book contains the recipe, but not the actual item. Glotos (talk) 23:27, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
    • This appears to be true for every craftable minion whose recipe is in a book, since the book pages use the "contains" macro for its recipes. Glotos (talk) 17:38, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
  • Consistent classification of tabletop meal items. Some of them are currently under Tabletop and others are under Meal.
    • If you mean on the individual items themselves, this stems from the issue of displaying the meal effects. Only Meal shows effects, and Tabletop doesn't. The "correct" way to have them right now is to paste the effects into the item description and use type Tabletop. Modification of the template to allow tabletop items to show effects like Meals do would be ideal. Freedom4556 (talk) 14:39, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
      • Tabletop items all fixed to type other/tabletop and descriptions updated. Freedom4556 (talk) 21:45, 20 September 2023 (UTC)
  • Replace remaining instances of "beast tribe" with "tribal".
  • MGP trade-in values for triple triad cards? Glotos (talk) 15:31, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
    • Should be fairly straightforward, as it depends only on rarity (num. of stars). Freedom4556 (talk) 15:40, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
  • Individually verify if items that drop "directly" from bosses in trials/raids, etc. require it to be synced.

Future

  • Final Fantasy XIV TTRPG - FFXIV tabletop role-playing game - release date: May 2024
  • (7.0) Check if new caster can use Essence of the Ordained and Deep Essence of the Ordained.
  • (7.0) Update quick synth availability for Lv 90 recipes.

  • (7.0) Check if V+C dungeons can be unsynced.
  • (7.0) Add Manderville weapons to Poetics spending guide.
  • (7.0) Determine Grand Company delivery formula for IL > 660 items.
  • (7.0) Update GARO gear and calamity salvager vendors for new jobs
  • (7.1, 7.3?) Update BiS note for DSR/TOP
  • (x.0, x.2, x.4) Update desynth and sellable for last tier tome/raid/ex trial gear
    • (x.3, x.5) - previous 24 man gear

Endwalker

  • Job Gauge - still shows DPS stances on tanks. Not updated since Stormblood, looks like. Freedom4556 (talk) 21:49, 21 January 2022 (UTC)
    • 29.5.2022 - Updated some general info. Fixed PLD, WAR, DRK, WHM, AST, SAM, added SGE. It's still unclear whether Job gauge refers to an UI element or resource itself. Ingame tooltips seem to use both terms interchangeably.
    • 30.5.2022 - Most of the page is modernized, RPR and MNK are incomplete. Other jobs should be checked if they're correct, especially - GNB, SCH, MNK, DRG, NIN, RPR, MCH, BLM, SMN.
    • 2.6.2022 - Updated RPR gauge description Isabella_Murahj(talk)
    • 3.7.2022 - Updated BRD and BLM but someone should probably fix my Gramer. (Note: MCH is looking like it's been updated in a few years but I haven't finished my MCH yet so I'm not sure if my Gauges are correct yet.)
    • 4.7.2022 - Fixed some grammar and formatting. If I didn't miss anything, then these jobs still could use some checking and updating: MNK, GNB, SCH, DRG, MCH, SMN. Deo(talk)
    • Shouldn't we just make it so each job gauge shows data from their respective page? Eg. ===Paladin==={{:Oath Gauge}} and then just update respective gauge pages, so we don't have to write the same thing twice. Downside is that page would be quite packed. Also, we can probably delete most of the PvP-related job gauges, since it does not seem like they're ever coming back Deo (talk) 12:10, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
      • Yeah, transclusion is out because of all the images. If you wanted to wrap all the individual images in <noinclude></noinclude> tags then the gauge pages could be safely transcluded. Freedom4556 (talk) 04:55, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
      • Also, check out the "labeled section transclusion by header" add-on that is used for example on PvP Actions. Freedom4556 (talk) 04:57, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
    • Fixed/checked GNB and DRG. Now only MNK, MCH and SMN are missing. Deo (talk) 22:44, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
  • While this isn't too important can someone get a higher res image of Alphinaud's HW healer class icon I've used this one File:Green Arcanist.png but it's not pleasant to look at compared to the others. User:Mysterious_ZAP (talk)

Guides

Gear Set Images

For promotional images showing characters in all the new gear sets from a given piece of content side by side, list the order in which the types of gear appear in the description. An example can be seen here The gear sets are listed in order, from left to right, in the summary.

Press Kit sites

Upload various images from the media press kits sites:

Gear Image To do

  • General
    • Move item images to the front of the item page's image list for better google scraping
    • Add an ingame ensemble image to armor item pages - ex. Noble's Jacket
    • Move images of collections of gearsets to gearset pages and remove them from item pages when item images are available

Templates

  • {{vendor list}} Template:vendor list needs to exclude event merchants: Category:Event merchants NPCs where | service = event merchant Freedom4556 (talk) 05:03, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
    • At the very list, where |status=historical is set in the price table.
    • Or if not that, add a switch where we can turn event vendors off/on with the default being off.
      • I think I've managed to get this partly working - if you check Aistan and check Copper Ore - you can see Copper Ore is historical in Aistan's list, and when you go to the Copper Ore page - Aistan is greyed out. I'm just waiting on the propogation rolling out to the other pages and updating them but it should go out to the event merchants eventually - seems to be going slow. Also trying to figure out an option where you can put vendor list|is historical vendor=n and it will hide/ignore them and won't show them. JohnnySolas (talk)
        • I went ahead and reverted those two (for correctness). If you need a couple to look at, The Iceman and Mineral Water are good candidates. Freedom4556 (talk) 22:50, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
          • Thank you for reverting - was just waiting on you looking at them and was going to change them back. I was too inpatient waiting for the wiki updating and Aistan was the first vendor that updated when I was doing the work last night JohnnySolas (talk)
  • Template:Vendor table needs to be fixed to work as described. Ideally, I'd like to use it on pages like Tarnished Alexandrian Bolt to show all the items that can be gotten in exchange for the item on the page. Right now we are having to build those tables manually, like on Behemoth Horn. Basically, the opposite of what Template:Vendor list does, which is all the vendors selling the item. I want all the vendors selling other things in exchange for the item. Freedom4556 (talk) 16:39, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
    • I tried to look at this last August and got stumped! Hopefully someone can figure it out. I think its just the Template:Vendor item table result format‎‎ that is the issue as the query seems to work and pull the info - it's just the item icon and the cost that don't show. JohnnySolas (talk)
    • Should work now, see if that fits your use case. Lvdr (talk) 13:15, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
      • It's looking great, couple pieces of feedback:
  1. See Bozjan Runner's Secrets (Head Gear), you escaped parenthesis in the purchased item but not in the currency.
  1. The cost column only goes 3 items wide, but as you see on Jalzahn, we need it to go at least 14 items wide. Freedom4556 (talk) 16:41, 12 February 2022 (UTC)
  2. Another feature needed so I can use the template with collectables. It needs to show how many of an item you are buying, in addition to how many items the cost is. Look at Oddly Delicate Pickaxe Part to see what I mean. Freedom4556 (talk) 20:21, 22 February 2022 (UTC)
  3. I think we shouldn't worry about the 13-14 wide thing - when I converted that NPC to a vendor and used the vendor tables I thought it was a good idea - but as they are relics we probably could just covert all the relic chain back to normal stdt tables and not use vendor list/rows etc ... would save having to amend this template as I can't think of any other vendor that would sell/buy for more than 13/14 items. JohnnySolas (talk)
Went ahead and made manual tables for the ultra-wide Jalzahn items. Freedom4556 (talk) 20:03, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
This issue is still affecting some tables. For example while Ardashir page tables are fitting 4 see 5th step and 7th step PLD weapons for example - because they're manually created - any pages they're pulled into would also need to be manually updated see Newborn Soulstone for example. Deagor (talk) 14:42, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
  • Requesting an addition to the properties for the Quest formatting templates. PollyEdaline (talk) 02:19, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
    • Add a "required items" property that can be optionally called by the table
      • Added. Lvdr (talk) 10:12, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
    • Split guaranteed and optional rewards on the table, with optional rewards being an optional parameter
      • Did this with split-optional-rewards parameter to table header; needs item-rewards parameter to work. This way the behavior doesn't change for existing tables. Lvdr (talk) 13:48, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
  • The Action Infobox Template could use a tweak to prevent Casting from being a property that shows up on every infobox, as the information is not necessary and every other property is technically optional (even the Name, although this will always at least pull from the page title). I've already tweaked it so that Range, Radius, and Targeting are no longer mysteriously in the same function and will no longer show on every single action box even when the information is completely irrelevant or self-evident. They can still be filled in if necessary and can display. PollyEdaline (talk) 22:15, 20 January 2022 (UTC)

Need to increase the max page template include size if possible, now that we're converting gear pages to template tables. See Head for example. Freedom4556 (talk) 19:23, 31 January 2023 (UTC)

  • Will check - might be a problem - we did once do this because the vendor pages (like scrip exchange) I used to have all of their items on 1 page and it took forever to load and sometimes wouldn't because there was so much data on there, so we increased the template size and it crashed the entire site so they had to revert the change JohnnySolas (talk)

On gear templates, the "extractable" and "collectable" fields need to be removed in a safe way since those systems no longer function in a way that needs them. Materia creation no longer destroys items, so all are extractable and collectables are no longer real gear, but separate "Rarefied" items. See Amateurs headgear icon1.png  Amateur's Headgear for an example. Freedom4556 (talk) 19:25, 1 February 2023 (UTC)

Transcription from official sources

  • We could use more editors who have access to real-world copies of Encyclopedia Eorzea vol 1 and vol 2. A number of minor characters have descriptions that would be useful to quote on their pages, and often contain clarifying information such as ages, professions, affiliated organizations, and family members.
  • The official side-stories on Mogstation Lodestone usually contain a wealth of information. It's worth linking to side stories from character pages, if the story references them or reveals information about them.

Other

  • Fill in the missing information in the tables of Miscellany and Other
  • Desynthesis Rewards - Worked on this one a bit, too Freedom4556 (talk) 16:00, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Voice actors: Best way to find VAs seems to be to endgame credits. I've already added all VAs from endgame credits from EW and ShB (but there are NPCs missing from 5.X and 6.X patches). This means that most recurring characters already have VAs listed, so if you want to do other expansions, it should go pretty fast. Deo (talk) 15:29, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

Garland Tools Gamer Escape They are meant to be the First's shard of the merchant encountered in the very first custscene in the game, and use an identical model. The name of the merchant driving the wagon in the 2.0 cutscene depends on the city you started in, but they all had identical appearances. Freedom4556 (talk) 16:30, 6 September 2022 (UTC)

I know there are many many more things that need done, like updating pictures and fleshing out descriptions, so post everything you see here so that we all know what needs done!

Issue with Template:quest list row

There appears to be a problem with calling unlock rewards using Template:Quest list row (see Wandering Minstrel Quests for an example) in which it is limited to 9 rewards. Anything past that has broken formatting, e.g., (UltimateRaid, The Epic of Alexander (Ultimate). - Dr Agon (talk) 08:33, 26 November 2022 (UTC)

Rotation guides

Job/rotation guides are perpetually outdated and no one is interested in updating them. I am wondering if we should just cut the losses and just provide links to the guides on The Balance's website. - Dr Agon (talk) 20:02, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

I agree now that The Balance has a lovely website and isn't buried deep in their Discord channels. I have gone ahead and implemented the links on the Guides page. Freedom4556 (talk) 20:50, 7 December 2022 (UTC)
